Eye-Fi

I’m truly excited on seeing Eye-Fi. Its a SD card with an in-built WiFi. Which means it can automatically upload pictures from your digial camera to your computer, as soon as you bring it into your home network. It can even push those pictures to your favorite photo-sharing/printing/blogging/social-networking site. May be even to a private backup site. No need of cables & no waits. Just a 5 minute long one-time-initial-system setup, is needed.

This is a wonderful extension, as this enables to WiFi any device you hold. Gone are the days where WiFi is just for networking your laptop.

I would like to see such a card for Phones which support expandable memory. This might be a little tricky, as in general, the slot sizes are for Micro SD cards. For older phones, how about adding WiFi into SIM cards? Will take a while for their WiFi circuits to scale down. May be, I can accept with some extension chords that can stick on to the casing of the device to WiFi it. Folks at ThinFone to ponder upon. :)

This is one the required for iPhone exhancements from user side. presently there is no auto-sync feature for photos between iTunes to ur iPod. now iTouch n iPhone are wi-fi enabled they can do that using eye-fi. quite nice features.

u may thirlled with this concept also.

go through the link and here are few hot pick email threads in our geek gang based on that.

But can’t we just have barcode tattoo, rfid implant, and tooth-filling phone/gps-transmitter? First 2 already possible. 3rd would handle voice services, which soon will be enough for much of mobile needs. Then retinal implants for our children….

    ;-]

Some days I want to pay only cash for things, and other days feel that I should only have one card in my wallet to handle everything– paying, id, passport, giant eagle, ezpass, magnetic locks at work, etc.//

What is this far? You’ll hav a pattern matching chip embedded in your eye or what? Or you want to make sure, all that your child watches is for the good? :)

this is actually cool stuff… on seeing this I checked in Amazon and found this something like a $ 100.. pretty expensive I should say.. but then doesnt the camera need to support this wi-fi? or is the card just enough?
